Diversity studies on insect pests of high altitudinal transitional zones of North-western Himalayas

Class Insecta constitute a major fauna and comprise many species economic importance. Due to climate change increase in temperature, are changing their habitat considerably shifting hosts, which leads changes the diversity at different gradients. High altitude forest cover is not large massive as plains cover, but it supports some very important economical tree like- Quercus sp., Himalayan Poplar, Betula Abies pindrow (Royle ex D.Don) Royle, Juniper spp., Birdcherry, Maple, etc. The present study analyzed any pest incidences due host preferences or climatic patterns. was conducted four selected sites viz. Rohtang area (Kullu Forest Division), Chanshal (Rohru Sach (Churah Indrahar (Dharamshala Division) Himachal Pradesh, India, diversity. A total 32 were recorded during period comprised orders viz., Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Hemiptera, Orthoptera, Dermaptera, Lepidoptera. investigation led finding that Coleoptera (beetles) most dominant insects attacking trees zone, followed by Lepidoptera (Butterflies moths) Hemiptera (aphids).
